Family Fun Night, by Roselin

Last night me and Adela were at Family Fun Night.  We saw Alexia and Mr. Johnson there and we had fun.  Today at recess I was playing on the swings and on the slides.

Monday is Summer Fun Day!!  I am proud of Adela today because she was nice to me.

Narrative Writing, by Jaden

Narrative Writing is a story.  Everyone is doing it.  We get to write our own story.  It will be fun.  Mr. Johnson, Miss Rader, and Mrs. Schlickbernd are helping us.

Tonight is family fun night from 5:00-6:00.  I am proud of Ryan today because he got his work done.

Why The Sky is Far Away

One of our small reading groups read a play called Why the Sky is Far Away.  We decided to make some puppets, and share the play with the rest of the second grade.  You can watch the video here, or below.  Great job Colt Lynn, Gracyn, Eduardo, Yamilet, Jacob, and Isabella!

Question About Chocolate, by Aleigha

We are doing morning meeting.  The question is if you cold put any type of food in chocolate, what would it be.  I chose peas.  In Writer's Workshop we are learning how to write a story that can be real or made up.  They are called narratives.

Thursday is one book one school family fun night.  The time is 5:00-6:00.  I am proud of everybody today for coming up with good ine words during word study.

Show and Tell, by Alexia

Aleigha brought her cat.  It is caramel brown and white.  She let us pass it around.  Ryan brought his truck, trailer, and four-wheeler.  It was a caramel color also.  I brought my spy kit, which comes with a voice recorder, spy ear, binoculars, decoder wheel, handbook, and a spy bag.  Everything they brought was amazing.  They did a great job of telling about their toys.

February 25 is One Book One School Family Fun night from 5:00-6:00.  I am proud of Ryan and Aleigha today because they did a good job on sharing.

Today we have show and tell.  Mahlik has spider man that glows.  Then some people are going to have squishy seats today.  It was Colt Lynn's birthday today.  Her birthday game was electricity.

Library books are due on Friday!  I am proud of Colt Lynn because she was nice.  She gave treats.

I am the daily blogger today.  This is what I wrote.  Aleigha has show and tell.  Nobody knows what it is.  We will find out on the rug today.  Aleigha brought a Barbie.

One book one school family night is on the 25th.  I am proud of Brandon today because he was being organized during math.

February 19, 2016 our Wayne State College friends come.  I am proud of Ruben today for listening to me.

Shopping Day!

Today we spent time shopping at the stores we designed.  Next week we will use our experiences in making the stores, buying needs and wants, and selling things to talk about words like resources, supply, demand, goods, services, and products.  Ask your child about what they have already learned about how to spend and earn money.

In Social Studies we are building our stores.  I am making a sports store and I am making a store by myself.  I am done.  Cael and Lane's store is a sport and a country store.  The stores are fun.

Today we did calendar.  Ruben was calendar helper.  We were doing morning meeting.  Alex was teacher's helper.  Right now we are doing math.  After math it is recess.  For lunch we are going to have Italian dunkers, lettuce, and peaches.  We are doing word study.  We are learning more words.  At Mr. Johnson's group we are working on our puppets.  For snack we had animal crackers.  After snack it will be writer's workshop.  we are doing presentations.  We are doing guidance.  We are watching an Arthur movie.  Then we did social studies.  We are working on our stores.

On February 19, our Wayne State College friends are coming.  I am proud of Jacob today because he was working hard on math.

Adela was calendar helper.  We have three people that are doing sharing.  Gracyn brought a lion, Aleigha brought a pink bear, and Mahlik brought a light saber.  Then we made our plans and washed our hands for lunch. Then we had recess. Alexia played with me. After that we had a birthday.  It was Mahlik's birthday. We had cookies.  They were good.  Then we did word study. Then we went to music. He had recess. Then we did Mahlik's birthday game! Then we went to art and that is our day!

Remember to read Where the Sidewalk Ends this week.  I am proud of Erica, Lane, and Lexie today because they were being nice and sharing the squishy seats.

Today is our Valentine's Party day.  We are going to eat valentine's from our Valentine bags.  Today we also are going to the Care Center.  We might make Valentine's with the elderly but me might read with the elderly.  I am going to read a Fly Guy book.  Mr. Johnson gave us partners for practicing our books for the Care Center.  My partner was Aleigha.  I have sharing today.  I brought my lion.  The lion's heart says "I'm not lion you're grrreat."  Then we ate a piece of candy from our bags.  I had a laffy taffy from Jacob.  Then we did 2 rounds.  Lane and Ruben did Listen to Reading.  After that Mr. Johnson said we might get to eat another piece of candy.  After that we do closing circle and go home.  That was our day.

February 15 is a late start.  I am proud of myself today because I got the runner of the day trophy.

First, we did calendar.  Next we did morning meeting.  Then we did math.  After math we went to P.E.  We played a new game.  Then we went to lunch.  For lunch we had fruits, fish, and milk.  It was good.  Next we did word study.  When we were done doing word study we did guided reading.  Next we went to recess.  It was inside because it was too cold.  Then we did writer's workshop.  Colt Lynn, Ryan, and Jocelyn did their presentations.  Then we had guidance.  Then we did social studies.  Next we did closing circle. Then we go home.  Three other people did their presentation and it was Megan, Jordan, and Anthony.

I am proud of Adela today because she was listening when we did morning meeting.

Today is Alexia's birthday.  She decided her game was Head's Up, Seven Up.  It was fun.  At recess I go trampled. It was painful.  Today was fun.

February 15 is a late start.  February 11 is parent-teacher conference.  February 12 is no school.  I am proud of Alexia today because she was nice to me.

Today I worked with Jaden on math books.  I am reading to someone with Lane.  Today we are making our word study list.  I did antonyms for literacy centers.  It was fun.  Then I did synonyms.  Mahlik is sharing in Writer's Workshop.  It was cool.

Tomorrow we probably don't have school.  I am proud of Lane today because he played outside with me.

Today I started my final copy.  For lunch today we had chicken nuggets, green beans, carrots, homemade buns, and pears.  For first round I did Journal.  For social studies we were drawing a picture of a store that we would like to make.  Me and Colton were partners.

Blog post from 1/22/16: The Hundredth Day of School! by Alexia

Today is the hundredth day of school!  We start our day by doing our math minutes, book shoppers don't have to do their math minutes because they have to, well, book shop.  After doing our math minutes and book shopping we get a free choice until calendar.  Eduardo is calendar helper today.  Now we're starting calendar.  After calendar we do the Pledge of Allegiance and morning meeting.  The question was if you could have a hundred of something what would it be?  I said a hundred Miss Bowers.  After morning meeting we start math, there are four rounds.  First round I do independent work.  My second round is centers. Third round I do IXL, fourth round I do meet with teacher.  After math we go to recess.  Then we do music and then lunch.  After lunch we do recess.  Later we did our hundredth day activity.  Then we went to recess and did some more hundredth day activity.  It was time for snack.  After that we go to library.  Soon later we do poetry instead of writing.  It was time to go home by now.

Remember to wear your hats and gloves!  I am proud of everyone today for having fun.
