Mustachio Day

Today we made Lorax mustaches.  We read The Lorax.  We said, "Mustachios."  We used tape to tape the mustaches to us.

Today was a very Fun Day

Today in Math we used Geoboards and rubber bands.  So it made Math very, very fun.  In the morning, David did Calendar.  Tomorrow is pajama day.  Thursday is crazy hair day, Friday it is bring a stuffed animal to school.  Harley and Destiny did Show and Tell.  In whole group Reading, Mr. Johnson read a book to us.  It was a Dr. Seuss book, and was called Oh the Places You'll Go.  It was very fun.  We only got one recess outside since it was raining.  In Science we got to use marbles.  We would put them in the cup, put the lid on, and spin them.

Uncovering the News

We learned about 3 shapes in Math.  They were trapezoid, triangle, and parallelogram.  In Mr. Johnson's group, when he said, "Are you ready?" we kept saying, "Freddy."  Gabriel's story made us laugh very hard.  One of the funny parts was that he made the donkey in his story say to the cat, "Will you marry me?"  We have been publishing our stories.  Next week is Dr. Seuss's birthday.  We have special days.

Math Ninjas to the Rescue!

We learned about subtraction on the iPad.  It was awesome.The dogs were on buses and the cats were on bikes in Math Ninja during iPads.  We had to do subtraction problems.  In Science, instead of disks we used cups as wheels but we used a big cup and a little cup too.  But we didn't use straws.

Today We Learned About . . .

Today we had disks and they were yellow and red.  We had straws and ramps and clothespins.  Today is Gabe's birthday and he is eight.  In March we will go to the Care Center to read books to the people.

Fun Times

Today we learned about shapes.  We sorted the shapes.  We got a new Word Study Think-tac-toe.  We had Plan-do-review time.  In Math it was fun.  We had to make a triangle by using the same shape.  We got a new math page.  Tomorrow is Gabe's birthday.  One group got a chapter book.  Today is Cristopher's birthday.  We are publishing new stories.

What We Did Today

We learned about compound words like seesaw, motorcycle, and gingerbread.  We had a short day and we had two recesses.  We had a late start today.  We celebrated Angel's birthday today.  He brought cookies.

What We Did at School Today

In the morning we did vocab books, then show and tell.  After that we did Talking Time.  That was fun.  Then we did Buddy Test.  We also finished our checklists.  I liked recess.  In small group we did contractions.  It was awesome.  After that we did Math.

Today we made twirly birds.  Some people got out their twirlers.  They had races and tried lots of different things.  In the morning, Mrs. Schlickbernd's class came over.  At the end of the day we went to the Spelling Bee.  I think it was really fun.

What We Learned About

In Math we are learning about subtraction.  In Science, we got new wings for our straws.  They spin very good now.  Some spin fast, some spin slow, and some don't spin at all.  We  had a pep rally in the hallway for Nick.  He is leaving to go to the state wrestling tournament.

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day

Today Mr. Johnson laughed really hard and there is a 2 hour late start on February 20th.  Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.  It will be very, very fun.  We are starting to publish a story that we've written.  In Math we are learning about regrouping ten ones.  Today we had PE and Art.  And we never had Science.  In Reading we're having a story called Dear Mr. Henshaw.

Valentine's Boxes

We decorated our Valentine's boxes today.  We shared our puppet shows with Mrs. Schlickbernd's class.  They liked the shows.  We moved our tables.  We get out at 2:00 today.

Wednesday Blog: Almost Valentine's Day

We learned how to make tops in Science.  Here is how you make tops.  You get a straw.  Then you make three paper circles.  Then you poke one hole in the middle of them.  Our tops spun off the table.  In Math we are learning about regrouping.  Mr. Johnson put a paper on the whiteboard.  It said "More on top don't stop.  More on the floor go next door and borrow ten more.  If the numbers are the same, zero is your game."  We are getting ready to publish our stories.

Tuesday Blog: Balance Challenge Over

We learned to use the boomwacker in Music.  In Music when we did boomwackers it sounded like armies marching.  We're done with our balance challenge!

Today in Science we had a balance challenge!  One challenge was we tried to balance a popsicle stick on a string and it balanced!  The popsicle stick had notches in it.  We have our paper for Valentine's Day.  On next Monday we can bring our Valentines.  Remember to bring your cereal box by Thursday!

Fun Times Today

We are learning about models to subtract two and one digit numbers.  You can regroup one ten for ones.  When we went to music we played the corner game and Musical Chairs.  It was fun playing the two games.  Mr. Johnson brought a globe for our classroom.  It is fun to look through.  There is a wrestling tournament.  We are bringing cereal boxes for Valentine's Day.  We are decorating our boxes.  We had a Problem of the Day.  It was hard.  One reading group finished their chapter book. Next week we are publishing our stories.  We are writing our stories we want to publish.

We Learned to Balance Pencils

We learned to balance a pencil on the tip of it.  We used wires to hold the clothespins to make the pencil steady.  Today we played iPads.  It was fun.  We played a lot of Math games.

In the morning we waited for Calendar.  Then we did Show and Tell. It was fun.  After Show and Tell, we did our Word Study Think-tac-toe.  We did our writing.  Next week we will start publishing our stories.  We played a Math game.

Today We . . .

Today we learned about beginning, middle, and end.  It is sort of like sequencing.  And we also learned about the Emergency Room in our Reading books.  At small group time, two groups got together and used the dictionary.  They found words and read the definitions.  In the lunch line, someone lost his shoe.  Today we had a sub.  We got Fancy Writing for Word Study.  It is new.  We also went to read story in the Rec Center during small groups.  Today is the last day of January.  Have a happy February!
