Presents and Calendar, by Stephanie

Today Mr. Johnson joked that in the presents were boxes.  For calendar I was the calendar helper and everyone did great.  I was happy with them.

On December 19 is Trojan Pride day.  I am proud of Elizabeht and Isabella today for standing up for me.

Today we had Music, and in Music we watched a movie.  We had Math too.  We had Library also.  I am student of the week and we are doing Christmas Cards.

December 20 is when Christmas break begins.  I am proud of Jorge and Dorothy and Frank for finishing their independent work.

Today at recess I played tag with Alli and Mikkie.  Then we spied on Timothy.

We get out of school on December 19, 2014.  I am proud of Ceilus because he told me I was daily blogger.

Our winter break starts on Friday.  I am proud of Isabella for using her time wisely.

Today we went to the public library and read Christmas books.  At the end they gave us pencils and candy canes!

Next Friday begins our winter break.  I am proud of Brynn today because she was smart in MAP Math test.

12-11-14: All About School, by Isabella

We have to write letters for Ceilus.  Today we wrote letters to Ceilus.  Ceilus is student of the week now.  On Monday Andy will be student of the week.  Today Andy was calendar helper.  Today we had a MAP test and Guidance.

Tomorrow we are going to the Care Center.  I am proud of Dorothy because she helped people up at recess.

Today Jorge was calendar helper.  In Math we did subtraction with regrouping.  In Word Study we did our word study notebook.  We did spelling words and base words.  In guided reading I did word work, and work on writing.  At recess I played with Stephanie and Rosa on the swings.

Today Brynn was student of the week.  She brought the stuff that she remembered when she was a baby.  We also did Math.  The problem was very very very very hard.  In P.E. we played a fun game.  We also did Word Study.  For rounds I only met with teachers.  We has writing for our animals.

Andy was calendar helper.  In Math we finished doing a regrouping paper.  In guided reading for first round I did journal, for second round I went with Mrs. Kluthe, for third round I did read to someone with Brynn.  Brynn read Blackout.  In Social Studies we learned about Pilgrims.  The boy and girl Pilgrims wore dresses.

November 26 is a 2:00 dismissal.  I am proud of Frank because he gave me, Alli, Dorothy, Brynn, and Ceilus an idea by throwing leaves on the fence at recess.

In Math we did groups.  Me and Andy did IXL.  I got 100 on IXL!

No school on November 27 and 28.  I am proud of Alli because she helped me to bring some snow.

Today Brynn was calendar helper.  Today we read a poetry poem.  The poem was called Thanksgiving.  In Science we learned about living and nonliving.  Today in closing circle the question was what does your family do on Thanksgiving.

No school on November 27 and 28.  I am proud of Brynn because at recess she helped us get snow for the bakery.

Today's snack is bananas.  We had a 2 hour late start.  We had racquetballs.  We didn't have Math.

Today we are going to the Care Center and read to the people.  In Morning Meeting we get to share whatever we want.  For snack was cantaloupe.  We are hearing Elizabeht's student of the week book.

Today in Math we played a game and did centers.  We played with 6th graders.  With the 6th graders we played cards, books, and coloring.

On November 17 there is a late start.  On November 26 we dismiss at 2:00.

Today in Morning Meeting we had to say stuff about Veteran's Day.  Then we went to the assembly and I saw my Grandpa in the army.  At recess I played with snow!  Mrs. Kluthe was fun!  We went to P.E. and we had Art.  We read a book about Veteran's Day.

We're learning about regrouping and we're learning about bald eagles and the flag, the Great Seal, and Mount Rushmore.  We had Music today.  We're also sorting toy animals.

Today in Calendar we did the month of October.  It was fun.  In Show and Tell Dorothy brought a plan to make a flower and Brynn brought her piggy bank and told us about it.  In Math we did different kinds of problems.  And in rotations I went with Mrs. Manz, my second rotation was Read to Self, my third rotation was Read to Someone.  I hope you like this writing of Stephanie.

Welcome to our blog!  This is a blog that is written by students in Mr. Johnson's second grade class.  For the first week, we will be writing blog posts together.  Once we are comfortable, we will take turns being the daily blogger!  At times, I will post information and resources on the blog, so be sure to check in with us often.  Students LOVE getting comments on their blog posts, so feel free to tell us what you think of our writing, ask us questions, or give us ideas to write about.

One Day and Four Hours Left of School

We cleaned the classroom today.  We have to finish May math centers.  Main Street Mile is Wednesday.  Mr. Johnson let us clean up the classroom today.

5-16-14: Best Day Ever

We did Track and Field Day.  After that we had ice cream. It was fun.  We get out of school next Wednesday.  I am proud of everyone today because they did good at Track and Field Day.

5-15-14: A Day at School

Instead of Math we had our last care center day.  So when we got back we could keep our bag or throw it away.  Since we were quiet at lunch we get to eat outside tomorrow.

May 14, 2014: Best Day Ever

We did P.E. and we played Dodgeball.  We did rounds.  1st round I did read to someone with Hannah.
On Friday it is Fun Day.  I'm proud of Hannah because she works hard.

5-13-14: Blue Ribbon School!

We had show and tell.  In show and tell Gannon shared that he is going to play tomorrow.  Jack S. brought a stuffed rhino.  Maritza shared that she is going to get a new puppy.  We had Math.  In math we learned about multiplication.  We had music.  In music we colored pictures.  We had lunch.  For lunch we had rib patties on a homemade bun, baked beans, and apples.  Then we had rounds.  Then we read aloud.  We read Eve of the Emperor Penguin.  

On the 16th it is track and field day.  I am proud of Airam today for working hard on her math work.

Hannah brought her puppy.  It's cute!!!  We had P.E.  We played softball.

Arlan is Calendar helper today.  the calendar is kind of goofy.  Now we are doing Talking Time.  Maritza is sharing that she is going to see a movie.  Jordan shared that she is going to have a sleep over at Jen's house.  Now it is math time.  In math we worked on May math centers.

May 7, 2014: Sharing Day

We went to Mrs. Schlickbernd's room to finish track and field day signups.  We can only choose 3 and we only have 2 right now.  We had AIMSWeb test.  We had a math one first.  We had dividers so we couldn't copy other people.  We read aloud.  We are reading Eve of the Emperor Penguin.  We are on chapter 3, "Short Grownups."  So far the characters are Nancy, Jack, and Annie.

Field Day is the 16th.  Yay!  I am proud of my soccer team today because it is 1 to 1 so far.

At 8:18 Gannon was calendar helper.  He was fast.  At first recess Gannon's cousin came.  He played soccer with us.  For lunch we had goulash, broccoli, and grape juice.

Best Day Ever

Today was a fun day.  We did show and tell before calendar because the SMARTBoard was not working.  Summer break is next month.  I am proud of the class today because they ran hard in the health run.

Time to Go Back to School

In Mrs. Gutzman's room she showed us a little black cat.  We named the cat Shadow.  Today we made our word study lists.  The spelling rule for this week is it has to have "tion" in it.  In Science we got root beer floats.  We had to figure out which is the solid, liquid, or gas.

Today is Earth Day.  I am proud of Jack P. today because he tried his best to figure out which was a solid, liquid, or gas.

We had show and tell.  For show and tell I brought a quilt, Katie brought a stuffed fox, Jack P. brought legos, Michaela brought Monster High dolls, and Caleb shared about his stuffed snake.  In Math some people went to Mrs. Gutzman's classroom.  I am excited for Easter!!  Tomorrow is our Math test.  Tuesday, April 22, 2014 is Miss Gerholdt's last day and we will miss her very very very much!  We had Language Arts Block.  For 1st round I had Mrs. Schlickbernd, for round 2 I had read to self, for round 3 I had read to someone, for round 4 I had work on writing.  Today we had Library.

Tomorrow is a day that we go to the Care Center!!!!  I am proud of all the teachers today because they work hard to make things great!!!

Blue Ribbon School

Late Start!!

Today is a late start day.  It is a little different from regular days.  We have no word study.  We are doing calendar.  A.J. is the calendar helper.  We had P.E.  It was fun.  In P.E. we did a 4 minute run.  Then we did cup stacking.  We had lunch.  In lunch we had tacos, refried beans, lettuce, and peaches.  We had recess. In recess I played tag.  It was fun.  We did talking time.  Caleb shared that he went to the circus.  We did Social Studies.  In Social Studies we are working on our Barefoot Island.  It's writing time.  We are working on different things.  We did Guidance.  We wrote.  We had rounds 2, 3, and 4.  I had Journal and Work on Writing.  We packed up.  You do 3 things.

April 18 is Easter break!  I am proud of me today because I got my blog done.

April 11, 2014: Last Day of the Week

Jeremiah is calendar helper.  Mow we are doing talking time.  We did Math.  In Math I played math centers.  Now it is recess time.  In recess I'm going to play with Hannah. When we come from recess it is time for Music.  When we come back from Music we have lunch.  When lunch is over it is time for recess.  We got to see a trailer about the book Red Dog.  It was fun.

Michaela brought Frozen dolls.  Jordan said she's going to make a blanket for someone. Caleb shared his lego figures.  I shared about my birthday which was the fifth.  Isaac shared he took down his fence.  We did daily four. In first round I had teacher.  Next I had read to self.  Then I had writing.  Finally I had word study!  We had writing.  In writing we are making a story and everybody gets to write a sentence.

First Day of the School Week!!!

We did calendar.  Caleb is calendar helper today.  We did fact families.  In fact families Caleb picked 24 and 3.  We had math.  In math we watched a video about capacity.  Capacity is how much something can hold.  In math, some of us go to Mrs. Gutzman's.  For lunch we had chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and a dinner roll.  We are having a book swap for Pre-K-6 kids.  Bring books that are in god shape please.  Books will be collected March 24th through 28th.  The actual book swap is March 31st through April 1st. It is really fun!!  This is what it is.  Say you bring 5 books of you own.  You get to pick 5 different books out.  It was a great day!!!

Easter is April 20th.  I am proud of my teacher today because he helped us know what capacity is.

March 20, 2014: Blue Ribbon School!

We had calendar.  Jeremiah was calendar helper.  We had show and tell.  Hannah brought her lalaloopsy.  Tristian brought his transformer.  Jaxton brought his gold sword.  Jeremiah brought his race track, and Arlan brought his Diary of a Wimpy Kid books.  We had math.  In math we had a test.  Then we had music.  In music we practiced our concert songs.  Then we had lunch.  In lunch we had BBQ pork on a homemade bun, corn, and strawberries.  Then we had rounds.  In rounds I had read to self, work on writing, and group.  We had milk count.  We got a new student teacher.  Her name is Miss Nelson.  We had read aloud.  We had writing.  In writing we are talking about the setting.  We had fourth round.  I had journal.

Tomorrow we have Buddy Test.  I am proud of Hannah today for finishing her word study tic-tac-toe.

Michaela is calendar helper today.  Ashlyn said that she is going to Airam's house.  We are measuring the perimeter of the rug.  We had 430 cubes to measure the perimeter of the rug.  In Math there was a sheet and it was a little hard.  We did three recesses.  Mrs. Johnson did a read aloud.

The Irish Day

It is St. Patrick's Day.  Many people are wearing green.  Jordan is calendar.  It is the 134th day of school.  We are having round 1 now.  I'm doing word study,  I only have two left.

March 14, 2014: Friday! Yay! Yay! Yay!

We had talking time. Mr. Johnson pulled out a chat pack.  It was, "What are you certain you'll be good at when you are grown up?" I said I'll be good at making video games and playing them.  Jaxton said the same thing except he doesn't want to play them. We did Buddy Test.  I think I got all of them right.  I got Magic Tree House #31, Summer of the Sea Serpent.  I have read it before.

Late start on Monday the 17th.  It is a 2 hour one.  I am proud of Gannon today because he got a Trojan Pride award.
