December 20th of 2nd Grade

Today was a late start day because there was a lot of snow.  It was really windy.  We did Calendar in English and Spanish.  The for lunch we ate pork chop patty.  Then we had recess.  Then we had writing.  We could write about anything we wanted.  Many kids are writing Christmas stories.  We went home.

Christmas is in five more days!

We did calendar.  We did Show and Tell.  Roxy and Kenna did Show and Tell.  We went to Mrs. Schlickbernd's classroom.  They showed us how to play Math games.  One game was called "Mind Reader."  The other one was called "Zap!"  We did lunch.  For lunch today we had Sloppy Joe's, tator tots, lettuce, and oranges.  We did recess.  I played with Makenna and Kenna and also Gaby.  We played Secret Agents.  We had Critical Thinking.  We played three games.  One game was called "Santa Says."  I do not know what the other two games were called.

Today is the 14th of December.  We did Morning Jobs.  It was the teacher's show and tell day.  We got to ask her 10 questions.  Mr. Johnson was gone on Friday.  In Math we did Christmas Math papers.  They were hard.  We had our first recess.  It was fun.  We had Music.  We finished the video from our concert.  We had lunch.  Today's lunch was green beans, grape juice, and chicken sandwich.  We did round one, two, and three.  I did Journal.  Mrs. Schlickbernd graduated on Friday.  We had our last reces..  We played Flush the Toilet.  We did Art.  We did free draw.  Then we had snack and milk.  We had a new poetry paper.  We checked our words, then checked out books.  We got ready to go home.

The 4th Day of School

We did the Math Word Wall.    The words were plus, whole, equals, add, addition sentence, sum, and part.  We did the iPads.

The Third Day of School

We did calendar, and then Math.  We had P.E. after recess.  We rode the scooters.  We decided our expectations for students and teachers.  We talked about Read to Self.  Read our blog on Monday to see a picture of our expectations.  Show and tell starts Monday!

The First Day of School!

We did the Flag Raising.  We said the the Pledge of Allegiance, we watched people shoot guns.  The guns were loud!  We learned about our classroom jobs, and did calendar.  We made hats and shirts that told about us.  We celebrated Ja'lela's birthday.  We read Chrysanthemum.  It was a super first day of school!

We did not learn about much today.  Today we had root beer floats.  We watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  It was fun.

Helicopter Visit

Today we got to see a helicopter land and take off at school.  Kaleigh's dad works as a Paramedic on the helicopter.  The crew answered our questions, and we got to see the inside up close!

Today we had a reading test.  Then we took a math test.  We only got two rotations during Math.  We wrote on the whiteboard.  Mr. Johnson did it on the SMARTBoard.  We did the "Interlude."  We went around the tables.  Today we did Author's Chair.  We watched our music program from Tuesday night.  by Destiny

Mother's Day Gifts

Today Gabe did calendar.  Today we worked on Mother's Day for our mothers.  It is almost the last day of school.  It is almost the last time doing Buddy Test.  Our last Buddy Test will be on Friday.

Today we didn't practice our music for our spring concert.  We had a fitness test for P.E.  We had a practice Math test.  Today we also did our posters about what we have done this year.  Each person has their own month.  It was really fun.  In writing we worked on our published stories.

What We Were Doing Today

We are learning about counting hundreds.  You have a place mat with you if you need help.  You count how many tens, ones, and hundreds.  Today we practiced our music program for our spring concert.

The Tooty-Ta

Today we decorated our door for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  On our door we put lots of chocolate.  We made a big gummy worm.  It was fun.  Destiny was the calendar helper.  Calendar was fun.  We did feet to tell about Mr. Johnson.  We did the Tooty-ta during writing.

What We did Today

In the morning, David did calendar.  Kaleigh, David, and I had show and tell.  22 chicks hatched, and it was cool.  In Science, we took a pie pan, and play-dough, put the play-dough in the pie pan, and put a crayon in the play-dough.  Then we put the pie pan on two books and put it in the sun.  We thought the crayon would melt.  It didn't.  We tried it two times, but it never worked.

Chicks are Awesome!

We watched a live video about the baby chicks hatching in Mr. Brenn's room.  We are learning about things in the Milky Way and the Milky Way.  We are learning about building 1,000.  In chapter book we read about Nancy and his friend Mac.  Nancy was a boy and Mac was a girl.  Then we read about Steven and Jason, and then about Louis.  We watched the 3rd grade present their poems.  We wrote newsletters today.

In Math

In Math we played a game.  We learned about words in Math.  There was an assembly in the gym.  Mrs. Johnson was our PE teacher.  We switched spots.  Some people stayed at their spot.

Flashlights and Letters

We wrote a letter for Sandy and Bob.  Sandy was our teacher at Ashfall.  Bob was the bus driver who drove us to Ashfall and Grove Lake.  Mrs. Manz is taking people to read.  We had problem of the day in Math.  When I was reading about snakes, I scared Mrs. Soderberg.  I said, "Yuck, I do not like them!"  We went to the library today instead of tomorrow.

Our Field Trip to Ashfall Fossil Beds

We got on the bus right away in the morning.  The ride was fun and bumpy.  First we went to the bathroom and checked out the fossils on the side of the walkway.  We had a snack before we went on the path.  After that we went to the gift shop and visitor's center and learned about fossils from Sandy.  We got to see ash and other fossils and one was from WAKEFIELD!  We put ash on our fingers and held it up in the sunlight.  It sparkled!  We got to check around in the gift shop.  Mr. Johnson brought a rock that looked like it had a coral in it and he showed it to one of the paleontologists.  The paleontologist thought it might have lived before the dinosaurs.  Then we went inside the Rhino Barn.  We saw a lot of fossils in the Rhino Barn.  Then it was time to go to the pond to eat.  After we ate we played at the park, then we climbed the mountain.  Then we went home.  Lots of us went to sleep and fell on the floor.

Today we did our first MAPS Math test.  Today we had Author's Chair and it was fun.  It was Mr. Johnson's show and tell.  He brought a fossil rock.  We think it was a fossil.

The Funny Day

Today we did our Math test.  In Mrs. Schlickbernd's room, there was a play called The Circus.  Ella sat on a tardy balloon.  The tardy balloon sounded like a whoopie cushion.  There was another play called The Rainforest.  Olivia the bird lost her nest.

What We Did Today

Today we had P.E.  We had scooter boards.  It was fun in P.E.  There is no school on Monday the 23rd.  For Science we learned about fossils and digging.  We had our MAPS test.  Next week we are going on a field trip.

Thermometer Day

We are learning about thermometers.  We put the thermometers in just water, ice water, and just ice.  Just water was the hottest.  When Karen and Dalton went to get their books, they scared Mrs. Manz, and she said, "Oh, you scared me."  At small group the timer went off and Mrs. Johnson asked Mr. Johnson, "Are you timing me?"  We laughed.  We went to the Care Center today.  We have another One Book One School book.
