A New Suit for Santa?

We received a letter from Elvin the Elf and Mrs. Clause the other day asking us to help design a new suit for Santa.  Here are the designs we came up with.  I am putting the letters and designs in the mail tomorrow for some of the students.  I wonder if Santa will use any of our designs!!

Christmas Eve: 12/18/13

We had Math.  In Math we are adding three numbers.  In recess I joined Ashlyn's club.  It was fun.  In P.E. we played soccer.  It was a tie, 4 to 4.  For lunch time we had sloppy joe's and tater tots.  We wrote Jeremiah's letters.  We have to say nice things about him.

Don't forget we get out at 2:35 on December 20, 2013.

Best Day Ever!

We did Calendar and Katie is Calendar Helper.  Now we are doing show and tell and people have to share their toys.  Then we did Math.  In Math we are doing adding three numbers.  The problem was like 12 + 13 + 15.  It was a little hard.

Christmas is December 25.

First Day of Last Week - 12-16-13

We had Talking Time.  In Talking Time Jaxton said he can't wait to get home and play video games.  Airam shared that she cleaned her room.  Katie shared that she is excited.  Jack S. shared that on Saturday he go to go to the Musketeer hockey game in Sioux City.  Isaac said he went to his uncle's wedding.  We had Guidance. In Guidance we watched "Stop Bullying Now!"  Every time an episode is over we say what type of bullying was in it.  We went to the Gardner Public Library.  We read Rudolph Shines Again and The Christmas Contest.  We had to ride a bus to get there.

We do not have Word Study this week.

I am proud of my reading group today because we are making an iMovie.

Christmas Break 12-13-13

We did Gannon's school party and Gannon had chocolate cupcakes.  We went to the Care Center on the 13th of December. It was a great day.

We have Christmas break on the 20th through the 5th of January.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

We had Calendar.  Today is the 11th day of December.  Today is the 80th day of school.  Jack P. was going to bring a toy.  Isaac said he went to his cousin's house.  But he didn't play the iPod.  Jordan brought Monster High dolls.  Jordan really likes them a lot.  Michaela brought a book.  Caleb went to Jeremiah's. We had P.E.  In P.E. I beat Jeremiah by 1 second.  It was my first time ever getting 1st place!  We had lunch.  In lunch we had beef and noodles with corn with bread and an apple.

My birthday is on the 13th of December.  Katie's half-birthday is on the 12th of December this week.

I am proud of our class today because we work hard in our classroom.

A Day at School

We did P.E.  In P.E. we played scooters.  When we played scooters in P.E. we took turns.  We had P.E. in the big gym.  We had teams in the scooter games.  Mr. Wendte called 6 people in the groups.

Early Out

Today we get out at 2:00.  We get to check out new library books, watch a movie, eat lunch, go to recess, and watch the one act play.  We did Talking Time because we don't have school on Friday.  The movie will be Turbo or Planes.  For library I got the books Riding Freedom and Paint the Wind.  We watched Planes.  It is about a crop duster that wants to race.  Today we had P.E.  In P.E. we played the Turkey Hunt.  A.J. came back to visit today!!!!!!!!!

Tomorrow and Friday there is NO SCHOOL! Thanksgiving Break!!!

Thanksgiving Vacation

We have no school on the 28th and 29th and we don't come back until December 2nd.  So we get 4 days off.  We finished the book Shiloh and it was good.  We had recess and at recess we played games.  In Music we sang our Christmas songs.  In Math we did a lot of playing games.  We watched a video about the first Thanksgiving.

We get out early on the 27th of November.

Blue Ribbon Day

We had Talking Time.  Katie is excited.  Micheala is going to stay with her grandma and grandpa.  Jordan is excited.  Airam shared that her neighbor fixed her T.V.  Maritza shared that she got a new bed. We had Author's Chair.  Monday people shared their stories.  We had lunch.  Lunch was turkey, mashed potatoes, whole grain roll, and pumpkin pie.  We had read aloud. We are reading Shiloh.  In Shiloh we are on Chapter 13.  Tuesday people shared for Author's Chair.  Wednesday people also shared.  We got our blue ribbon shirts. We did a second grade blue ribbon picture.  We got to take a picture with the whole elementary.  We had a ceremony.  It was fun.

On Wednesday the 27th, we get out early.  I am proud of myself today because I was listening in the ceremony.

Tuesday's Blog Post

We had show and tell.  Show and tell is fun because people get to bring anything they want as long as it is not a fake weapon.  Airam brought a stuffed doggie in a stocking.  She said she really likes it.  She also brought a glow ring.  Gannon told about his Nebraska helmet.  He said that he is going to make it look like it goes with his black jersey.  Ashlyn told about her picture book.  She said it had a picture of her cousins.  Jack S. brought toy cars.  He said he has a big track he races them on.  Joe brought a stuffed dog.  His stuffed dog's name is Spot.  Maritza told about her mom.  She is going to see her some time this week.  Now it is time for Math.  In Math my group had meet with the teacher.  Then my group had independent work.  At 9:30 some of us went to Mrs. Gutzman's room.  In her room we worked on our secret number project.

Today we have a substitute.  Today is technology Tuesday for me and my class.  In Social Studies we are making products for a game.  The game we are playing is producer and consumer.  We pretend that we buy and sell stuff.

School Day

We did Calendar.  In Calendar we did the temperature, fact families, and we rounded to the nearest 10 and the nearest 100 and other stuff.  Ashlyn shared that she opened her present but she didn't like it so her mom took it back to the store.  Jack S. shared that he is excited for today because instead of having a cub scout meeting they are going somewhere.  Joe shared that this weekend if there is snow he is going to go sledding but if not he is going to pick up leaves.  Airam shared that this weekend her cousins are coming all the way from Mexico to visit.  Gannon shared that he was going to bring his number that he had in the Coca-cola run.  We had Math.  In Math we had a test.  We had Music.  In Music we learned our Christmas songs.  Jack P. shared his bulletin board.  He brought a huge Beanie Boo.  We didn't have time for read aloud today.  In read aloud we are reading Shiloh.  Which is funny because there is a song in Music that we do an d this is how it goes:  Bounce high, bounce low, bounce the ball to Shiloh.  We did Daily Four. First round I did Word Study, second round I did Read to Self, third round I did Work on Writing, and fourth round I did journal.  In Word Study I did blue vowels.  I Read to Self I read Riding Freedom, in Work on Writing I worked on the Daily Blog post.  In journal I wrote that I was blogger.  Technology is when you get an iPad and you do something challenging.  In technology we played the word wall game.  The word for the word wall game was machine.  The word for the next game was where.  We had milk and snack.  I didn't want milk and I forgot to bring snack so I just sat there.  We did read aloud.  We read Shiloh.  It is a good book.  Every day before we leave from school we put our pencil baskets on our drawers and then the next morning if we have school we get to pick our own seats.  If Mr. Johnson thinks we can't handle where we're sitting he'll move us.  We did quiet ten.  That is when you write for ten minutes without talking.  I worked on my blog post during quiet ten.  I love to be daily blogger because I love writing and I love keeping track of what we do all day long.  I love trying to write long blogs.  In Social Studies we bought and sold stuff.  The people that are buying are consumers.  The people that are selling stuff are producers.  It is the end of the day.  Student helpers:  Line Leader was Jaxton, Calendar Helper was Jeremiah, Plant Waterer was Michaela, Teacher's Helper was Katie, Chair Stacker was Caleb, Caboose was Tristian, Daily Blogger was Jordan, Computer was Joe.

We read to the people at the Care Center.  I read to Bud.  We had P.E.  In P.E. we practiced the Health Run.  We had lunch.  In lunch we had hot ham and cheese.  I read White Water today.  I am in Mr. Johnson's reading group.  We had recess.  I played on the swings, silver bars,yellow jungle gym, and the monkey bars.  I love Math, Reading, Writing, and Science and Social Studies.  On the 2nd of October it was Miss Bardsley's birthday.  On the 9th of October it was Maritza's birthday.  On the 14th it will be Isaac's birthday.  On the 18th of October it will be my birthday.

We had Critical Thinking.  In Critical Thinking we are making cars, but if we want to take it home we have to bring some stuff of our own.  In Writing we signed up for Author's Chair and writing conferences.  We did not have Science or Social Studies or round 4.  Mr. Johnson turned on music while we did writing but there was no words.  We did Buddy Test.  We do them every Friday.  In Language Arts Block I did Read to Self, Word Study, and then I had Mr. Johnson.  We highlighted our buddy test.  We did anything in our unfinished work folder.  We also cleaned out our drawers.  Then we were all done we got to pick a quiet choice.

We did the Pledge.  We did calendar and Tristian was calendar today.  And after that we had an author come and it was lots of fun because we got to see some things on the screen.  This week is Miss Bardsley's last week.  We are all sad because she is a good teacher and she is pretty and she is really nice to us.  She is really helpful to us because she teaches Math.  We are sad still because I love her.  We had lunch and it was good.  Yum!  We went to recess and we came inside and Maritza and me played Freeze Tag.  It was fun and I ran faster than her.  After that we went inside and we had Guidance and it was fun.  Today was Miguel's birthday and he is 7 years old. We sang to him.  Now we are doing writing in our journal and our writing folder.  After writing we did Science and Issac is watering the plant.

We had Music today.  In Music we played the corner game.  We had recess.  I like to play on the slides, monkey bars and the silver poles.  We are reading NO TALKING.  We are on Chapter 17.  We had Critical Thinking.  In Critical Thinking we did hand prints.  In writing we had Author's Chair.  We had Science.  In Science we did an experiment.  We had small groups.  I like Music because I like to sing.  I like Math because I like to add.

Reading at the Care Center!

On Friday, September 13 we went to the Care Center to read to the residents.  We practiced our books during Read to Self and Read to Someone time during the week so we would be able to do a great job reading to the residents.  It was a little scary at first, but most of us thought it was awesome by the end.  Here are some pictures.  We plan to go every month on the second Friday, and I will try to get pictures of each student reading to someone.

Today we started our morning off with the Health Run and it felt shorter than usual. I ran with Kenna.  We talked about the prank.  Mr. Wendte did not mark us off on the chart today that tells how long we ran the Health Run.  Then we came back, got our maroon folders and I took out my writing that I am illustrating.  I have to finish chapter two then I have to do all chapter three.  Then Jack flipped the lights and said he was ready for calendar.  Before he began Mrs. Nixon said on the school speakers that there are six more teachers to be captured and two kids read two more and she said we are going to be finished on time.  This time Jack could start calendar. He pulled sticks. Jack started with calendar in Spanish.  Then he pulled Roxy she said the calendar in English.  After they did calendar in Spanish and English, money, and the hundreds, tens, and ones we worked on our new second grade memories books.  Then we did read aloud.  We are almost done and we think we can make it.  We went to recess.  Makenna and I did not play much.  We tried to find warmth.  We thought we found some but I do not think so.  We came back and went to P.E.  In P.E. we went to the track and we had to run two laps.  Then we got to practice our activities for track and field day which was today.  When P.E. was over instead of doing read aloud we worked on our second grade memories books.  We washed our hands for lunch and Eliseo was the line leader.  Today's lunch was spicy chicken nuggets, rolls, corn, and frozen strawberries.  Then we had last recess because we had to go to track and field day at twelve thirty.  Makenna and I swung.  We we pushed with our feet.  When recess was over we still had a few minutes so we worked on our second grade memories books. Then I worked on the  blog.  By the time it was time to go to track and field day I was on the back of my second page.  Makenna led us because she only had two activities she could do.  We started track and field day at the softball throw.  I signed up for it.  I three far to me and the other people threw far too.  Our next event was soccer kick.  I did not do that but the people that did did great even with the wind.  The next activity I was not in either but they ran fast and jumped hard.  It was the long jump.  We finally got to an activity that I signed up for.  The activity was jump roping.  Everybody did a fantastic job.  We got waters before we ran.  I drank all mine before we started running.  My dad surprised me by coming.  We watched the fifty meter hurdles and the fifty meter dash and I was in neither.  Then it was the hundred meter dash and I was in it at the end.  My foot got stuck in the yarn.  They did the two hundred meter dash which they did a great job.  We left after that but they did do a four hundred meter dash.  But just because I was not there does not mean they did a bad job. We got an ice cream bar, ate it, and Mr. Johnson said the ticket out.  Then we left school for the day.

The field trip is in three days and bring a sack lunch.

Softball practice tonight at six.

Last day of school is this Friday.

Makenna's Blog

We went to the Care Center today.  My books were The Princess and the Pea, I Have a Cold.  I read to lots of different people.  Reggie and I helped Alice do a puzzle.  We walked to the Care Center and back to the school.  We ate lunch in the classroom with Mrs. Schlickbernd's class.  After lunch we had recess.  Mr. Johnson brought his medal from the half marathon for show and tell.  Sunday is Kenna's birthday.  She brought treats. 

Monday is field day.  The 17th is the last day of school.

We did the Health Run.  After the Health Run was done everybody came in the classroom.  Before Gaby turned off the lights Mrs. Sodeberg gave us candy.  After that Gaby turned off the lights.  We did calendar, money, and straws.  After that Roxy said the student helpers.  Mr. Johnson said the schedule.  Then Brianna and me went to Mrs. Gutzman.  When I came back from Mrs. Gutzman's the class was watching video.  The video was about multiplication.  Then it was recess time. Then we went to Music.  Then we did read aloud.  After that we went to lunch.  Then we did language arts block.  Then it was time for recess.  After that we went to the library.  Mrs. Klein read The Gardner to us.  Then we got milk.  Then Eliseo, Makenna, and Kenna shared their published stories.  Then we worked on writing.  I worked on my blog.  Then the time went off.  We went to Mrs. Schlickbernd's room to decorate our Mother's Day card.  We went back to our classroom.  We packed up and Mr. Johnson said the ticket out.  The ticket out was what you are going to do after school.

On Sunday it is Mother's Day.

Next Thursday we are going to Ashfall.

Then we had recess.  I did the same thing as last recess.  Then we had Guidance.  We went to Mr. Clay's room.  We watched Popcorn Park.  Then we came back to our classroom.  We got a new poem called "The Last Day of School."  We read to 1, 2, or 3 people and then we made pictures on our poem.  Then we did Science.  We learned about energy.  We watched 2 videos.  We did a science song and vocabulary smart cards.  After science we got books for the care center.  The books I got were The Ugly Duckling and When the Leaf Blew In.  Mr. Johnson said the ticket out.  Then we packed up and went.  The ticket out was what is your favorite song from the concert?

The Spring Concert is tonight.  Be here at 6:45 and remember to wear bright colors.

In the morning we did the Health Run.  Then we did calendar.  In calendar we did money, straws, students helpers and the data.  Then we did pledge.  Then we did show and tell .  Mr. Johnson brought a fossil.  Then we did talking time.  Then we washed our hands for lunch.  Today lunch was bun, green beans and steak.  It was good.  Then we went to recess.  I played with David,Rachael, Maria, and Bella.  We playd on the slide.  Then they rang the bell.  Then we lined up when the bell rang.  Then we came back in the classroom.  Then we did our rounds.  I did my blog.  Then I went with Mrs. Northwick and we did balls and bean bags.  It is fun.  We did the balls in the activity center.  Then we did Buddy Test.  My partner was Tryden.  Then we went to third recess.  It was fun.  Then we went to Art.  In Art we did free draw.  Tryden and Ryan made me a picture.  It was fun at Art.  Then we did Author's Chair.  Author's Chair people were Walker, Kenna, and Eliseo and Kenna wanted questions.  Then we did writing.  In writing Mr. Johnson had to conference with me.  The story I brought  was Walker Gets a New Game.  Then we went to mark off our Word Study and our checklists.

We had calendar.  Mr. Johnson said the schedule and we went into Math.  In Math we worked on Math altogether.  It was recess time.  I did not know what to play.  We had P.E.  In P.E. we ran some laps.  It was time for read aloud.  We read Superfudge, by Judy Blume.  It is a good book.  It was lunch time.  The lunch was chicken nuggets and some other stuff.  We had Language Arts Block.  I met with a teacher.  In Science we wrote in our Science book.  It was time for last round.  I did read to self.  Mr. Johnson said the ticket out and we left.

Today was a normal day.  Well, sort of.  We AIMSweb testing.  We had lunch.  My mom came to eat lunch with me.  We had recess after lunch.  My mom played with Madison and I and I think Gaby and Kenna.  We also read to some people, I don't know their names.  We had two tests for AIMSWeb testing.  I left at 2:30 so I don't really know what we did in Science.

Puppet Show

Roxy, Madison, and Caleb's reading group wrote a puppet show retelling Abby Takes a Stand, by Patricia McKissack.  The three of them wrote the script, made the puppets, and drew the background scenes.  Turn the volume way up to hear it!

We did our morning jobs.  Roxy was calendar helper today.  We did the date in Spanish and English.  Makenna did the date in Spanish and Eliseo did the date in English.  After we did the date we did the ones, tens, and hundreds.  After we did that we did money.  Then we did student helpers and lunch.  Then we did schedule.  After that we did show and tell.  In show and tell Roxy went first.  She showed us her Xray when she went to the doctor.  I don't know what they other people shared because I had to go to Mrs. Gutzman.  At Mrs. Gutzman I had to tell time.  After I went to Mrs. Gutzman I went back to my room.  When I came back they were having a test.  When the timer went off we went to recess.  At recess I played with Brianna, Kenna, and Makenna.  We played a game that we have to save somebody from a shark. Then the bell rang.  Then we did our rotations.  First I did read with someone with Makenna.  Then on second round I went with Mrs. Sateren.  There I worked on a poster with Ryan and Isaiah.  Then the timer went off.  Then I did Word Study.  For Word Study I did stair step writing.  After the time went off it was time for recess.  Instead of playing with Makenna and Brianna, me and Kenna played a game.  Kenna was the baby and I was the mom.  After recess we went to Mrs. Gutzman.  At Mrs. Gutzman's we worked on lever and I don't remember what the other word was.  After we went to Mrs. Gutzman's we went to get milk and snack.  Today's snack was oranges.  Then we did a little bit of writing.  I worked on my blog.  After that we did Science.  In Science we worked on air and water.  Then we did our last round.  I did work on writing.  Then the timer went off.  We packed up and went home.  The End
